Our Students

Each year, nearly 400 students benefit from READ Center programs, including men and women from ages 18 to over 60.
While it takes time to learn to read, starting the process can show great benefits. After just one year at The READ Center:
- one out of four students got more involved in their children’s education
- one in five students entered an educational or adult training program
- in the last year, 51% of READ Center students reported new employment, a raise in pay and/or a promotion
- almost half of the students registered to vote
These results have a direct impact on Richmond’s economic development. As our students strive to meet their personal literacy goals, they are also getting more involved in our community and they are becoming more active citizens.
